Running Shield
Kathmandu, April 28: Under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and organized by the National Sports Council (NSC), the 13th Central level President’s Running Shield sports competition has started from Friday.
Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav inaugurated the tournament in a grand ceremony at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.
Addressing the program, Vice President Yadav expressed the opinion that sports are an important means of raising the nation’s flag in the international arena and enhancing the nation’s reputation, and that sports are also an important means of world brotherhood, peace and understanding.
NSC Member-Secretary Tankalal Ghising said that the central level Presidential Running Shield competition was organized through the local level, district and state, and said that the competition was conducted from the ground up in a pyramid shape, so the importance of the competition is particularly significant in the production of athletes.
